An Appalachian Trail Shelter at Home

I was recently testing a multifunction sleeping bag.  I did most of the early tests in a hammock.  However, it seemed like a good idea to gather some information about comfort at different temperature ranges in a shelter-like environment. I thought about building an AT shelter in the woods behind my house, but using this little porch suddenly seemed like a much easier idea.

We have always called this the "Laundry Room Porch" because that is the room it gives entrance to.  We use it to enter the house when our feet are wet or muddy instead of the main entrance.

The porch never has gotten much use.  We open the door and let the air flow through the laundry room when it is hot during the summer, but it has never been a favorite place to sit in the evenings.  I have now slept on the porch a few times and it is beginning to be a favorite spot.
