| Here are directions for a simple to sew (second project) baclava made of fleece. To see how to use these directions see the page on making a mitten. | |

For this pattern, tape or staple 3 pages of typing paper long edge to long edge, making rectangle at least 18.5" by 11". Think of the two directions on the graph paper as being x and y. X numbers run from 0 to 18.5, left to right. Y directions run from 0 to 11 starting at the bottom and going to the top. |
| For this pattern, cut a paper pattern out with scissors. Trace around the pattern on a double layer of fleece oriented as described to the right. Put the faces of the fleece against each other. They will end up on the outside after you cut out baclava and turn the baclava right side out. I have found that you can mark fleece with a dry marker. Sew with a zigzag stitch along the mark you make. Then cut out the baclava an eighth of an inch from the stitching being careful not to cut the stitching. Turn the cap right side out and put it on to test. For the measurements in red, do not sew! Just cut along this line. |
It is important that you orient the pattern on the cloth. For fleece, one direction of the fleece stretches and the other does not stretch much. Orient the stretchy direction on the Y axis, across the neck. |

The following table gives the location of several points on the pattern. Mark these points, then cut the pattern out.
I wear a size 7 hat and this makes a nice sized baclava for me.
